According to Laszewski there is one more reason insurance companies might prefer older healthy persons over the young ones and that reason is that the older persons are usually more profitable.
"It's not uncommon for a 20-year-old to only be paying $100 or $120 a month. So getting lots of young people doesn't necessarily get us lots of premium," says Robert Laszewski.
This is because of the fact that the law doesn’t let insurers charge unhealthy people more but it does allow them to charge older people more. And that too up to three times more.
However the Laszewski is worried that not enough number of young people have signed up for this program.
