The ministry has decided not to leave the treatment of some 150 migrants who are HIV carriers or have full blown AIDS to different voluntary groups. The Health Ministry has decided to cover the costs of their medications.
After a period of six years, the ministry has invited migrants who are not legal residents t go for treatment at the AIDS centers situated in the country’s public hospitals.
Until now only the volunteer doctors from activist organizations used to provide them medical care. But such organizations had difficulties in getting the protease – inhibitor drugs. Their condition was also harmful for the local population.
